Army on Friday paid tributes to two soldiers who were killed in a gunfight with militants in Samboora village of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last night. A militant of Jaish-e-Muhammad was also killed in the gunfight while two more managed to give a slip to the government forces. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Corps Commander, Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the slain army men. In a show of solidarity, officials and representatives from the State Government and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the slain army men, said a spokesman. “Late Sep Suraj Singh Topal and Late Sigmn Kushwah Pradip Singh Brijkishor Singh sustained bullet injuries during the fierce operation at Sambura in Pulwama District. They were provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 BH but succumbed to the injuries,” he said. Sep Suraj Singh Topal, 25, had joined Army in 2012 and hailed from Village Falota located in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand. He is survived by his parents and two sisters. “Coming from Village Savitrinagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sigmn Kushwah Pradip Singh Brijkishor Singh, 22, had donned the uniform in 2013. He is survived by his parents and a brother,” said the spokesman. Their mortal remains were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours.
